Evgeny Varavko

Evgeny Varavko was born in Moscow, and received his advanced music training at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he studied clarinet performance with Professor Victor Petrov and chamber music studies with Professor Tigran Alikhanov. Following graduation in 2000, he attended the École normale supérieure de musique in Paris (2001-2003), where he studied clarinet under Guy Deplus; impressively, he pursued parallel post-graduate study at the Moscow Conservatory.

Even during his student years, Evgeny engaged in an active concert career, performing as a soloist with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of Moscow, under conductor Pavel Kogan (1999-2001), as well as at various international music festivals in Moscow (1995-2000), many of which were dedicated to contemporary music. He has since performed at such prestigious halls as the Salle Cortot and Salle Atrium Magne in Paris, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the Tretiakov Gallery Hall in Moscow, among others; and has performed in chamber music festivals in Russia, Estonia, France, and the US.

Evgeny presently holds the chair of first clarinet in the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra 'Musica Viva' in Moscow, under the direction of cellist Alexandre Rudin. He likewise performs regularly with the Trio Kobrin-Bouzlov-Varavko, whose recordings are featured here at the Classical Archives.
