Sofa Aznaurian

Sofa Aznaurian was born in Krasnodar, Russia in 1959, and began studying piano as a child. In 1974, she entered the Rimsky-Korsakov Music School, graduating in 1978. The same year she moved to Yerevan, and entered the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, where she studied composition with Professor G. Yeghiazaryan, graduating in 1983. Prior to graduating, she earned a diploma at the Russian All-Union Competition (1982).

Ms. Aznaurian has written works in various vocal and instrumental genres, including the mono-opera quot;Hopequot; (2004) for soprano and chamber ensemble, based on a 1906 novel, quot; The Fictionquot; by Russian author Zinaida Nikolayevna; as well as a song cycle based on the poetry of the great Armenian poet Mkrtich Sargsyan; both works are found here at the Classical Archives, the former in a reduced version for soprano, piano, and percussion.
