Composer
Igor Golubev (1945-); RUS

Igor Golubev was born in 1945 in Pyatigorsky, Russia, into a family of musicians and singers of the local opera company. His early musical training took place in the nearby city of Ivanov, where he studied piano with E.Okhotina, a disciple of Heinrich Neuhaus; soon thereafter he began composing. He then moved to Moscow, and graduated from the Gnessin Music Academy in 1977, where he studied composition with A.Tchugayev and piano with A.Kaplan.
Mr. Golubev has been a member of the Russian Composers' Union since 1979, and since 1991 has been the chair of the chamber music and symphony departments at the Union; he is currently also director of the Union's department of programs and festivals.
As a composer, Golubev works in a variety of musical and genre styles, having written a number of symphonic, chamber, and vocal works - including works for film. Among the outstanding musicians who have performed his music include conductors S.Sondetskis and A.Vedernikov; violinists V.Pikayzin, I.Bochkova, E.Tchugaeva, S.Kravchenko, and I.Igolisnsky; as well as the chamber ensemble Moscow Trio - which is likewise featured here at the Classical Archives.
